Sylvia Rands is one of NZ’s most experienced voice and acting teachers – working for the last 28 years through NZ and Australia developing Four Elements Voice Training. Building on her work as an actor and director she links the speaking and singing voice to awaken creativity, authenticity and strength in the actor. She was Head of voice at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School and recent acting appearances are in When we go to War and Shortland St.

The vigorous and robust nature of Sylvia’s work helped me to see the potential for the voice as a gateway to one’s entire emotional landscape as a creator and actor.
— Laurel Devenie - actor, director, devisor
Sylvia is an amazing teacher. I have seen her transform actor’s work from good to brilliant within a very short space of time. I wholeheartedly recommend her, not only to actors but to all communicators.
— Miranda Harcourt - actor, director, acting coach
